Last week we took a look at three of the least expensive homes for sale in North Oaks and promised you a list of the most expensive homes on the market in North Oaks this weeks. So, here we go.

Priciest Homes in North Oaks

$2,950,000

Big homes in North Oaks come with big prices and this 6-bedroom, 9-bathroom stunner is no exception. The most expensive home on the North Oaks real estate market, it features 12,867 square feet of living space and it was built in 1988.

But size is just the beginning of the highlights of this home. Can we interest you in a home surrounded by woods with a Pleasant Lake view and more than 200 feet of your very own lake frontage?

A couple of weeks ago we looked at the median sale price of a North Oaks home, $697,752. Suffice it to say, our town isn’t the place to look for entry-level priced homes. Although, when researching the MLS for this week’s post I was a bit surprised that our lowest priced homes are quite nice and ideal for those shopping in the mid-price range in other markets.

Cheapest Homes in North Oaks

$395,000

This 4-bedroom 3-bathroom home has 3,665 square feet of living space and sits on 1.68 acres. The home boasts water views from both the front and the rear, hardwood floors and new carpet and the kitchen has been updated.

Outside you’ll find a second detached garage with loft space and a workshop area/office with an entrance to the home.

Tria Restaurant is one of the few dining choices in the North Oaks area. While the food can be hit or miss, the service is typically spot on.

The restaurant provides lovely patio dining when the weather is conducive and a seasonal menu. Or, should we say menus, as Tria offers several. These include the dinner, brunch, celiac-friendly, kids, bar food, happy hour and dessert menus.

Dinner menu highlights inclue lobster spaghetti and Creole sausage penne in the pasta section, chicken Chardonnay and three types of steaks. If you go for brunch, try the Morgan’s Breakfast if you have a big appetite but the Crème Brûlée French Toast is also tasty.

You don’t need me to tell you that there is no place in the Twin Cities metro that quite compares to North Oaks and that includes our real estate market. Because of its small size, even the slightest of changes sound dramatic.

For instance, it might be shocking to hear that the number of new home listings in North Oaks dropped more than 25 percent last month over November of 2104. In reality, the actual number of new listings fell by only eight.

The number of homes sold in North Oaks, however, increased 40 percent, dragging our inventory of available homes down even further. We now have a 5.9 month supply of homes for sale. Now, this is the sign of a balanced market, and quite unlike most other Twin Cities metro real estate markets.

One of the great parts about winter in Minnesota is that ice skaters can actually enjoy their favorite recreation on outdoor ice. You have to admit, the views are much nicer out there. Since some prefer indoor ice, however, we’re going to share with you both types of ice rinks near North Oaks.

Shoreview

The City of Shoreview offers seven outdoor ice skating rinks with warming houses throughout the city. You’ll find them listed, with addresses, here.

Highland Arena

Located in St. Paul, the Charles M. Schulz/Highland Arena Complex offers ice sheets, so it’s quite the popular ice skating destination. The Highland Arena offers year-round skating with a learn-to-skate program, multiple hockey leagues and so much more. Get the open skating

Get out of town

How about a day at Wild Mountain in Taylors Falls, Located about an hour northeast of North Oaks, near the St. Croix National Riverway, the snowboarding and skiing is suitable for all levels, even the little ones. You’ll find 26 trails, a newbie discovery area and four terrain parks. The tubing is amazing here.

Wild Mountain is open Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. On Fridays they remain open until 10:00 p.m. On Saturdays and Sundays they open a half hour

The latest North Oaks real estate market statistics were published this morning so we’ll be posting an update next week but the one number that homeowners are most interested in is the median sales price of a North Oaks home. This month, it’s $730,000. Now this is a decrease from this time last year when the median sales price sat at $826,778 but it’s an increase in the year-to-date price of $692,844.

So, what if you long to buy a house in North Oaks but there’s no way you can afford something in the $700,000 range? Well, it’ll be tough, but not impossible to find a home for less than that. In fact, right now there are three homes on the North Oaks real estate market priced less than the median sales price, but one of them just barely squeaked
