With the approval of plans for improvements to the West Recreation area, the NOCF or North Oaks Community Foundation is working on many projects. The NOHOA has committed $550K to improvements and many different items have been proposed. The funds are expected to make a great impact on this recreational area.
The NOHOA and the NOCF are working on raising funds through donation to help with the projects, as well. Currently the pledges from past and present board members total $15,000 and more is certainly needed. Some of the items the Foundation is trying to fund include:
- Small Playground - $35,000
- Picnic Shelter - $35,000
- Ten Picnic Tables - $10,000
- Ten Benches - $5,000
- A Stone Grill and Fire Pit
This project will help to make the West Recreation area much better for all in the North Oaks community. Each picnic table and bench will include a name of somebody sponsoring it and al donors contributing $3,000 or more will receive a nameplate inside the building. All donations are appreciated and you can find out more at, http://www.northoakscommunityfoundation.org/what/projects.html.
"A Playground for Everyone"
Another project the NOCF is working on funding is called "A Playground for Everyone." This playground will be found at Turtle Lake Elementary and will provide a barrier-free play experience for all families. It will be the first of its kind in the northern metroplex and will stress the importance of inclusion.
The NOCF is also looking for donations for this specific project. Currently, they have raised about $115,000 and the total cost of the project is $280,000. Find out more about the project at, http://www.northoakscommunityfoundation.org/NOCF-PlaygroundArticleForNONews.pdf.
These are just two of the project the NOCF is currently working on in North Oaks. There will certainly be more in the future and donations are always greatly appreciated.
