One of the great parts about winter in Minnesota is that ice skaters can actually enjoy their favorite recreation on outdoor ice. You have to admit, the views are much nicer out there. Since some prefer indoor ice, however, we’re going to share with you both types of ice rinks near North Oaks.
The City of Shoreview offers seven outdoor ice skating rinks with warming houses throughout the city. You’ll find them listed, with addresses, here.
Located in St. Paul, the Charles M. Schulz/Highland Arena Complex offers ice sheets, so it’s quite the popular ice skating destination. The Highland Arena offers year-round skating with a learn-to-skate program, multiple hockey leagues and so much more. Get the open skating schedule and information on skate rentals and more here. The arena is located at 800 South Snelling Avenue in St. Paul.
Schwan Super Rink
If you don’t mind the half-hour drive, Schwan Super Rink is always lots of fun. Location at the National Sports Center in Blaine, it’s supposed to be the largest ice arena in the world. This is the place for hockey, figure skating and all types of ice skating. You can enjoy open skate times throughout the year, plenty of ice programs and so much more here. White Bear Lake Sports Center
White Bear Lake Sports Center not only offers open skate times but on December 20, the kids can skate with Santa! Get the schedule here. The arena is located at 1328 Highway 96 in White Bear Lake.
